Mepilex Border Heel (22cm x 23cm) by Molnlycke is a self-adherent soft silicone multi-layer foam dressing specially designed for the foot and heel wounds.
Mepilex Border Heel is a self-adherent, absorbent heel-shaped dressing to be used as part of a prophylactic therapy to prevent pressure ulcers and minimise the risk of maceration. For wound treatment it maintains a moist wound environment. The waterproof outer layer protects from dirt and bacteria. The dressing has a Safetac® wound contact layer that is a proprietary adhesive technology developed by Mölnlycke that minimises pain to patients and trauma to intact skin or wounds at dressing removal.
Mepilex Border Heel consists of:
a wound contact layer consisting of soft silicone adhesive (Safetac) and a film carrier
a flexible absorbent pad in three layers: a foam, a non-woven spreading layer and a layer with super absorbent fibres.
an outer film which is breathable but waterproof, providing a barrier to external contaminants
Moreover, Mepilex Border Heel all-in-one dressing is the only five-layer foam heel dressing with proprietary Deep Defense® Technology – proven to prevent pressure ulcers when used in conjunction with other standard prevention protocols.
This heel dressing design makes optimal healing conditions for managing moderate to high exuding wounds of the heel area. It has a good fluid handling capacity and retention.
This recently-launched enhanced design includes new handling tabs and thicker borders allowing easier application and patient checking. When used for pressure ulcer prevention or damage caused by shear and friction, the heel shape has been refined so you can achieve good coverage of the high-risk heel area and and the malleoli.
